Twilight chases the sun

havent been posting much or painting for tt matter.
anyway, i whipped out one of my first paintings
i did on photoshop with my dear dear tablet...
i have no idea how bad the original one was.
well it's featured right here actually.

here's the work in progress...
you could see all the reference i picked up when
i was painting initially.
after i got a rough idea of what i wanted
i just let things flow on it's own...
even wanted to put some angkor wat photo n paint over it or something...
decided to put a buddy fella next to him and realise
it wld just complicate things...
oh well...keep things simple.

Twilight chases the sun is a fantastic album by a band called Furniture.
good luck finding it.

greet death II

had to do a variant version.
it was so fun playing with the hues.
and was playing with the backgrounds.
corals maybe?
which one do you prefer?

started from a sketch on the train as usual

some work in progress
i start by painting in grayscale first.

looking at the 2 variants trying to compare which i liked more...

decided to whip out an old sketch
and started painting.
rather happy with the process.
it was fun.
had some time anyways.

greet death

started from a sketch on the train

process

have always been intrigued by george lucas' phantom menace.
designed by ian maccaig and further pushed forward by a.m.bride's version
in visionaries... a bit of my own rendition.
hope it didn't look too bad.
started from a doodle on the train.
greet death is a song by explosions in the sky.
: )

vega collab

still freelancing like a vagabond.
but one of the benefits is to meet different people,
different very talented artists like ken, bruce and keehong.
all from one of the greatest art schools across the causeway
one academy. not that this is some entry to advertise how good they are,
i'm very honoured to have come across them and meet them face to face,
exchange ideas, dreams and criticisms.
in fact my first art director i worked with, sok kuan was also from one academy.
: )
here is a humble paint_over and collaboration work
with one of the very talented artist i work with at an ad agency.
he's no other than keehong.
sorry if i made your art work look bad bro!
here's porcupine boy like wat muki calls it....

we only come out at night

a random character.
some zombie hunter
which somehow happens to look a lil like riddick.
started doodling and then just couldnt stop and had to
finish it if not it wld be left dangling in my folder
haunting me forever.
oh well. headin back to practice my anatomy.
no more random stuff like these.
: )
work in progress here.

working from black n white to color to get the values.
but the anatomy looks fucked so back to basics for me.

大魔王与悟饭

a big fan of dragonball z so here's a fan art.
i remember as a kid i would anticipate
with excitement every issue of the comic especially
when the z warriors were fighting cell and when magin bu
first came out we had such a good laugh
only to realise how powerful tt lard bucket was.

hope you know who the bird symbolise.
this image was inspired by
1 of the paintings of the great jeff jones.

experimenting with colors.
for piccolo the highlights i used orange and the shadows blue.
as we all know piccolo is green.
hope i didn't fucked up this piece tho.
C.C welcome as usual.

i wish to learn.

halfway there...

the initial sketch ...like about a year ago.

"there is still good in him..."

you salvage a sketch from your dumps.

pins vs pink repaint

another repaint to beef up my portfolio.
here's the original upload.
you chalk my cue i pot your pink.

predator vs samurais, jar jar pins feat. jedi master muki black hunter remix

i was doin a repaint of an old sketch
trying to salvage it from the dumps one night.
and thankfully had some guidance and butt kicking from a friend.
time and again i've been told to practice from the fundamentals
and time and again it dint get into my thick skull
cos i dint know where to start
so this is where i started thanks to him.
drawing shapes and form.

and as i was doing so my friend did a repaint of what i sent him for a crit.
so i would like to use this opportunity to introduce this friend of mine
who happen to be a movie kaki and mentor.
drum roll for the kaiman if you dont already know.
ukitakumuki.
and a great honour for me that he did a repaint on my version.
looks different. looks wicked. looks better!
(in a brief moment of 3 hours
when i was still figuring out how to light a cube!)
niceblackkkj.

n here's where you could see my old sketches of the predator idea.

vagabond

did a repaint after getting some valuable comments.
thanks lots guys!

bought issue 1 to 25 of vagabond
and i have been enjoying every single page of it.
the art is amazing.
couldn't help being inspired and doing something about it...
so i did this before my trip to phuket
and now i'm back i've decided to finish it.
well just a random doodle. not too much detail
and learning to get the values right.

could you help me out here?

open season

did a new version lately...
threw in some dummy jap text
which says
"where is my home?"
it's written wrongly so i hope someone can comment
and tell me how to write it correctly.

here's the black n white version.
(my own lil way of learning about values...i know so little.)

a story i had in mind about 3 samurais
who were abducted by the alien predator tribe
and trained under the predator warrior code.
having survived and extinguishing their abductors
they try to find solace from where they came.
equipped with alien technology and skills far more
advanced and superior to this modern world
they can't help but feel alienated and remotely out of place
event though they have returned to a refuge that was once called home.

hmmm started this on a sunday evening
after a great dinner with friends.
couldn't get to sleep so decided to do some personal work.
something which i have not had a great luxury to do for a very long time.
gota start working on my portfolio soon. sighz...

bunny helmet- watch TV anywhere.

did a repaint so yeah...

a study of craig mullins concept girl.

here's my version of it called
"bunny helmet-watch tv anywhere."
here's how it works the helmet she is holding
is actually a portable T.V. helmet thingy.
this way she would not miss any of her favourite tv shows.
the tall hat acts as a stool when she takes it off
and puts on her bunny helmet.

a rather bad doodle on studying craig mullin's concept girl.
but here's how it all started...
bad doodles.

and some WIP screen shots.
you can see the reference i used from craig mullins.
but most imptly the final should not look too much from the original.

havent been posting much finished work.
got lots of sketches and ideas in my lil sketch book
so stay tuned!

luv,
p

the venue where this sport is played is called the valhall.

this was the initial sketch for the client to see.

here's his girlfriend

the initial one was much sexier but was rejected.
looks like the wind could blow off her G-string...

here's where you can see it online.
LOOK.
HERE.

snake eyes at the war front

practice of the day.
okie was abt 3 nights a few hours each...
